2002 Freestyle Scholastics/AAU National Juniors Surfing Championships


 

The 2002 Freestyle Scholastics/AAU National Juniors Surfing Championships took place this past weekend, , in New Smyrna Beach, FL with surf conditions that ranged from 5' heavy north swell in 15 mph winds to finals that were held in 3' glassy conditions with a light north breeze.

Over 250 student surfers from 10 states competed in nine surfing and bodyboarding divisions for a shot at National AAU title and Freestyle USA Scholarship awards. This is the 16th year the event has been sponsored by Freestyle USA and annually attacts the top East Coast contenders in age divisions ranging from 12-18 years through collegient divisions.
